Tell Your Story. College Admissions Essay Contest

November 3, 2009 — December 1, 2009

The winner is Daniel Lustberg from Weston, Connecticut.

Congratulations!

Daniel's essay was the complete package: it was original, personal and well written. Just as important as those traits, the essay was a joy to read and left a strong impression on all of our judges. Daniel started his essay by reflecting on those all-too-familiar family moments when parents dig up embarrassing occurrences from our youth to entertain guests. After this attention-grabbing opening, he went on to discuss how his unique traits as a youngster connect to some of what he considers his most important attributes today. The entire essay was beautifully written, filled with active verbs, descriptive language, and dynamic constructions. This combination of unique ideas and compelling writing make the essay immediately grab the reader's attention and hold it until the very end. An essay as strong as this one is bound to catch the eye of an admissions committee member and contribute positively to Daniel's application packet.
